In the gripping music documentary Wacken – Hearts full of Metal, founding fathers Holger Hübner and Thomas Jensen recount the history of the world’s most famous Metal festival: W:OA: – Wacken Open-Air-Festival. The film opens the doors for the very first time into the lives of the team behind the festival, offer fascinating insights into the evolution of this extraordinary event from its simple beginnings back in 1990. 

A supporting cast of Holger and Thomas’s longtime companions and collaborators also share their stories from the festival’s unparalleled rise to fame. Among them, music legends such as Metal queen Doro Pesch, Kreator frontman Mille Petrozza, singer Jennifer Haben (Beyond the Black), as well as Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker and Mikkey Dee of the Scorpions. 

In Wacken – Hearts Full of Metal, director Cordula Kablitz-Post takes the audience on a thrilling 90-minute journey through the festival’s past, present and future. The film features interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and spectacular live performances from Iron maiden, Amon Amarth, Motörhead, Blind Guardian, Rammstein, Guns N’Roses and many more.
