Trump’s America – Power, Change, Resistance

  • nordische filmtage

For a year now, Donald Trump prefers to rule as US President by decree, bypassing parliaments and courts. As part of Project 2025, the reorganisation of the state is being pushed forward and the DOGE authority has eliminated what was considered ‘useless’ in the US. The documentary by Gaston Saša Koren, Ira Beetz and Dietrich Duppel shows in vivid reports the effects of Trump's policies on the United States. With vehement consistency, he has radically changed the United States and the world.

Synopsis

When Donald J. Trump is sworn in at the White House on 20 January 2025, the world has no idea that the 47th President of the United States will change the world order at breathtaking speed. Trump and his followers are acting in the wake of Project 2025: the strategy paper of the national-conservative Heritage Foundation aims to transform US society into a white, racist, Christian-influenced world.

Trump rules by decree, bypassing parliaments and courts. At the same time, the DOGE agency has launched a crackdown on everything that is now considered ‘useless’ in the United States. It is a stress test for one of the oldest democracies in the world. The system of checks and balances is being undermined at all levels, to the benefit of Trump and his loyalists.

The documentary by Gaston Saša Koren, Ira Beetz and Dietrich Duppel shows in vivid reports the effects of Trump’s policies on the people of the USA. The charitable Health Wagon in the Appalachians is more popular than ever. In the Everglades, no consideration is given to the environment around the ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ deportation prison. Queer Iraq veteran Joy Marver loses her job, like hundreds of thousands of other civil servants. African American activist Elijah Miles teaches young people in Baltimore to behave, while eccentric multimillionaire Fred McLendon is committed to helping the homeless in Florida.

International journalists and experts assess Trump’s policies: after one year, Trump has radically changed the United States and the world with disruptive consistency.
