Synopsis
In 2026, the United States of America will celebrate its 250th anniversary—a national milestone that comes at a time of deep uncertainty. “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”: the nation was founded on this promise. Hardly any other country has shaped the world in the 20th century as much as the U.S.: politically, economically, technologically, and in terms of pop culture. From Hollywood to Silicon Valley, from the civil rights movement to constitutional patriotism, America became a place of longing for millions of people. But how much of that promise remains in a country that is more deeply divided than it has been in decades?
